Gopalganj is a town, municipality and headquarters of Gopalganj district in the Indian state of Bihar. Goplaganj is the headquarters of district. Modern District that we see now days comes in existence on October 2, 1973. On this day it became ab independent district. beafore that it was a sub-division of chhapra district.

Main languages of spoken are Bhojpuri, Hindi and Urdu.

Geographical Areas:
It occupies an area of 2,033 square km (785 sq mi) which is comparatively equivalent to Spain's Tenerife island. It is 26th largest district of Bihar. Gandak river flows in the western part of this district.
